Ruthless
On June 24th, 2022, something broke inside of me. That morning, I woke up to find that the Supreme Court of The United States had decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, leaving women’s body autonomy in the hands of state legislators. Like most American women, this decision left me feeling enraged, scared, and, worst of all, helpless. As I scrolled through social media over the following days, I saw the numerous protests from others. Many posts reminded people that we can still vote, donate, volunteer, and call our representatives in this time of helplessness. I am a woman who takes action amid a crisis, yet these reminders sickened me to my stomach, as it did not feel like enough. “Yeah, I get that. I’ve done all that and more, but what else can I do?”
