Erin Sedra is a graphic designer and creative strategist with nearly a decade of experience spanning higher education, non-profit, and freelance work. Her versatility and adaptability allow her to approach each project with both creativity and strategic focus. Her passion for design began at age 12, when she taught herself Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create illustrations for friends. By 16, she had secured her first professional role at a non-profit organization, laying the foundation for a career that blends self-taught initiative with formal expertise.
Erin went on to earn her MFA from Missouri State University, where she served as both a teaching and design assistant while completing her terminal degree. She later joined Black Hills State University as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, teaching courses across all levels and collaborating with journalism and photography faculty to encourage interdisciplinary learning. As co-advisor of Ponder Magazine, she guided the student design team to win three national design awards.
Alongside her academic work, Erin has maintained an active freelance practice for over seven years. Her client work ranges from brand identity systems and responsive websites to large-scale campaigns and interactive publications. Notably, she recently collaborated with an investment group to produce a 140-page interactive luxury catalog for a multi-million-dollar gem and mineral collection. Another meaningful project involved designing the brand and website for an Arizona-based nonprofit supporting Congolese refugees during the COVID-19 pandemic—an experience that reinforced her belief in design’s power to advance the common good.
Erin’s career is marked by significant achievements, including winning a prestigious gold award at the United States International Poster Biennial. Her work has been displayed in a number of galleries and museums world wide traveling to Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Italy, Poland, South Korea, & the United Arab Emirates for exhibition and marketing purposes. Today, Erin continues to inspire both students and clients with her dedication to design and her commitment to using her creative talents for meaningful impact.
